My style of teaching combines various movement modalities that I have learned over the last decade. The emphasis of every practice is focused around breath while incorporating postures that build slowly to a yoga flow or a peak posture. While yoga serves as the basis of all movement practices I provide, classes are generally sprinkled with strength and flexibility training. Of course, if public classes feel a little overwhelming, private classes are a wonderful way to learn postures in a yoga practice.
At New Love City, I wear many hats in addition to teaching yoga. I assist in leading New Love City’s 200 Hour Teacher Training each fall and oversee their Mentorship program. I am passionate about educating new teachers and assisting them in finding their voice and expanding their teaching skills.
Currently, I am finishing my masters degree in Applied Exercise Physiology at the Teachers College at Columbia. By studying exercise science on an academic level, I can better serve my students and community by introducing a comprehensive overview of how exercise operates within the human body. Modern movement science has changed extensively in the last 50 years and it is with hope that with this degree, I can continue to educate and assist students in learning more about the way in which their body moves, what forms of movement might work best for them individually, and having a better understanding of how to feel good in their bodies.
ABOUT
I began a consistent yoga practice in 2011 while studying Anthropology at CU Boulder. I found that the consistent hour dedication to honor my breath and find movement that made me feel strong and empowered allowed me to balance life as a Freshman living in a new city. Originally from NYC, I have since moved back and now teach exclusively at New Love City, a small but mighty studio located in the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
